The Graduate Diploma of Public Health is an exit Award only and is not available for direct admission.

A Bachelor of Development Studies Degree from ANU, or equivalent from another institution with a weighted average mark of at least 70 per cent calculated from the 48 units of courses listed in the degree as core courses, development studies courses and advanced level courses, and with the written approval of an identified supervisor for THES4103 Thesis.

ANU offers rank adjustments for a number of adjustment factors, including for high achievement in nationally strategic senior secondary subjects and for recognition of difficult circumstances that students face in their studies. Rank adjustments are applied to Bachelor degree applicants with an ATAR at or above 70. Points are awarded in accordance with the approved schedules, and no more than 15 points (maximum 5 subject/performance-based adjustments, maximum 10 equity-based adjustments and maximum 5 Elite Athlete adjustments) will be awarded. Admission to all programs is on a competitive basis. Admission to undergraduate degrees is based on meeting the ATAR requirement or an equivalent rank derived from the following qualifications:

• An Australian year 12 qualification or international equivalent; OR
• A completed Associate Diploma, Associate Degree, AQF Diploma, Diploma, AQF Advanced Diploma, Graduate Certificate or international equivalent; OR
• At least one standard full-time year (1.0 FTE) in a single program of degree level study at an Australian higher education institution or international equivalent; OR
• An approved tertiary preparation course unless subsequent study is undertaken.

Domestic applicants

? Non school leavers:

b) Non school leavers who:

• complete a recognised Australian (or equivalent) post-secondary qualification, or

• complete one standard full-time year (1.0 FTE) of an Australian (or equivalent) degree qualification, or

• complete an approved tertiary preparation course/program without undertaking any further study,

will be assessed on the basis of an equivalent selection rank that is calculated upon application. Non school leavers must also meet any program specific requirements that are listed below.

International applicants

Applicants who complete a recognised secondary/senior secondary/post-secondary/tertiary sequence of study will be assessed on the basis of an equivalent selection rank that is calculated upon application. Students must achieve a minimum 70% average mark in the first 48 units of coursework and have the approval of the supervisor for the research project.

However, applicants will first be ranked on a GPA ('GPA1') that is calculated using all but the last semester (or equivalent) of the Bachelor degree used for admission purposes. 

If required, ranking may further be confirmed on the basis of: 

• a GPA ('GPA2') calculated on the penultimate and antepenultimate semesters (or equivalent) of the Bachelor degree used for admission purposes; and/or

• demonstrating higher-level English language proficiency. 

Prior to enrolment in this ANU program, all students who gain entry will have their Bachelor degree reassessed, to confirm minimum requirements were met.

Applicants with a Graduate Diploma or Bachelor degree with Honours in a cognate discipline may be eligible for up to 48 units (one year) of credit.

A Bachelor degree or international equivalent with a minimum GPA of 5.0/7.0, with at least 8 courses in a cognate area.

Cellular and molecular biology, genetics, biotechnology, medicine, anatomy and physiology, biological psychology

To be admitted to the Doctor of Philosophy program in Culture, History and Languages you will be required to have completed at least a four-year Australian undergraduate degree or equivalent with a result of at least H2A.

You may be granted admission if you can demonstrate that you have research experience equivalent to these qualifications, including factors such as competence in a relevant language, cultural knowledge and work experience in Asia or the Pacific..

To be admitted to the Master of Philosophy program you will be required to have completed at least an Australian Honours degree or equivalent, with a result of H2A (Second Class Honours Division A). Equivalence may be met by completion of a Master’s degree that includes a significant research component.

Students must have the written agreement of an identified supervisor in order to enrol in THES8103 Thesis in a specified semester one calendar year in advance of the start date of that semester. Students who do not have the written agreement of an identified supervisor one calendar year in advance, or whose agreed supervisor either subsequently leaves the university or is on leave from the university, will be transferred to the Master of Social Research.
