Working in the automation team, I use a mix of programming and data modelling to build automation solutions for network engineering teams within Telstra.

In my first rotation, I worked with project teams delivering technical solutions by providing them information about their security. I also had the chance to work on code projects to improve the workflow in the team. In my second rotation, I've worked on engineering projects, assisting in the design and deployment of new network infrastructure. I also worked on scripting activities for automation.

As a network engineer, I am working on a few virtualisation projects. It gives me exposure to both the fixed and wireless network. There have been fantastic learning opportunities thus far.

Data analysis to support the business' indirect workforce management

Particularly in IT the norm for interns/grads is to be given a small project to work on in its entirety (all aspects from planning to coding and deploying) for the time you spend in that team. There's a lot of trust in interns and grads to be left on their own to do what they can but generally, the teams that take grads are very supportive. Grads can choose their second and third rotation and final team so you get to have some input into what you want to do and learn.

Although I'm in a business analyst role, my day-to-day work stretches further into software and data engineering. My passion lies in the data science field and this is a strong example of how Telstra has accommodated my growth within my current role. A typical day for me commences with a team stand-up where we plan and provide updates to each other. After this it's full speed ahead you'll find me programming, working with others, in meetings and of course a coffee squeezed in somewhere.

Provided with challenges that has allowed me to grow so quickly and learn so much in a short amount of time.

Responsible for managing the Boost mobile relationship, reporting on Pre-Paid statistics and working on new offers to market for Pre-Paid.

Work in my current rotation is largely unstructured. Tasks revolve around a mix of ad-hoc project work and some month-end reporting responsibilities.

I engineer network changes on Telstra most critical network equipment, I have agency to get my work done and being newer has not caused people to disregard me.

Contract review, meetings, discussing commercial and legal issues with clients, marketing reviews etc.

I am a squad lead, we work in a very agile environment, I have to ensure my team is working towards the mission and a common goal and give updates to the senior leadership team.
