There is good visibility at the executive level for initiatives to improve diversity (women, ethnicity, disability and LGBT). From what I hear from others, it is a fairly good company for women who have children, with good parental leave and work from home options.

Telstra has industry-leading maternal/paternal leave programs, alongside a genuine commitment to diversity amongst minorities and LGBT, especially within Belong. Furthermore, the acknowledgement and respect of indigenous communities as the original custodians of the land is fantastic.

Telstra is very diverse. Many groups for people of all walks of life. My area is probably the least diverse but it is a very technical STEM area and no one is ever excluded, the percentages in my area would directly relate to the diversity of people with the qualifications required.

In the past the company may not have had a huge amount of diversity but that is changing with the new graduates coming through.

Telstra's engineering demographic skews slightly older and very male. Ethnic minorities are well represented. Maternity/paternity leave policies are excellent.
