Pros and cons of working at Deloitte AU

Pros

  • Great progressive, modern culture and comprehensive training programs.

  • The people are truly amazing and welcoming.

  • I get to walk in to work looking forward to what I will be doing today. I am kept busy everyday doing things that I like doing. I am not asked to do work that people know are boring. If I am ever stuck with work, my team is happy to help me or give me tips. I feel like I am learning everyday with great support.

  • Great people to work with, awesome graduate program and clients

  • Being able to work on a vast range of projects to get experience across multiple areas before deciding what to specialise in.

Cons

    • In the beginning, I felt like there wasn't much expectations as a grad and there was days where I didn't have work from my own team. That made work very boring. But I later figured that I was just given freedom to work on stuff that I wanted to learn. So I started trying to learn things myself and approached other teams I am interested in for some work. I now do interesting work for different teams and feel like I am actually helping.

    • Consulting often requires you to work long hours without getting paid overtime.

    • IT doesn't support Macs very well.

    • Emails, there are so many emails to deal with.

    • The lack of firm supported social team events. Due to the case base nature of investigations, at times you can feel underutilised in the quieter (although infrequent) times.
