On average I work about 11-12 hours a day. No One will say don't go home early, but to complete the assigned responsibilities to a good standard the hours need to be put in. The industry is quite full on so a lot of your day gets taken up on site, but there are many things that need to be completed at your desk also.

Hours are quite standardized, approximately 10 hour days, 5 to 6 days a week. But depending on the stage of the project these hours can increase on demand and workload. The advantage is that your hard work is recognized and if you require flexible time, they are willing to work with you to accommodate.

Very long hours. Company is flexible if you need to leave but only if you manage your workload. Workload is often too demanding to take any time away.

The hardest part of the job is the work/life balance. On average the hours are not to bad but for example when your doing a long spell of 6 days a week over a few months leading up to PC it can take a toll, not only physically and emotionally but peoples family lifes.

If I asked to leave the office half an hour or an hour early they would most likely be ok with that as long as it was infrequent. I would feel uncomfortable asking unless I had a serious reason.

I would love to work a 40 hour week. This is never the case at work. Weekends are painful.
