We have a workplace giving initiative set up where Optus will match donations of up to $300 per employee to many charities both local and overseas. There is a strong culture for giving time and donating with team's often organising volunteering days in the local community as well as Optus Rockcorps which is based on community service.

There's a huge website which allows us to donate to charities and Optus matches our donations up to $500. There are great awareness programs like TourDeCure and always something encouraging us to help the disadvantaged on our walls or internal 'Facebook-like' community site. I've been personally involved in donating for great causes.

There are always incentives to do help the less privileged, communities or charities.

Give and get given is an Optus initiative that I took part of where we help youth centres look more lively, give 4 hours and get a concert ticket. A Lot more initiatives.

Optus has a CSR team dedicated to social issues. We have 'glass trees' on campus which capture rain water and feed it down to an underground tank which is used to flush toilets and water the gardens. We also receive 1 volunteer leave day per year, so we can volunteer for a charity of our choice for the day at full pay. There's also a Yes4Good program where employees can nominate from a large list of charities that they wish to donate to, volunteer for, or fundraise for. I have set up a couple of fortnightly donations which come out of my pay automatically.
