About the Role

As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to rotate throughout our business providing a diverse experience and exposure to mechanical projects happening in both surface and underground mining using engineering principles and compliant with relevant codes, standards and regulations. Working together with a highly skilled team to solve complex problems, you will be assisting with designing, developing, and implementing timely and cost-effective equipment modifications through mathematical modelling to improve efficiency, reliability and safety.
A typical day will involve working with leaders in their fields, undertaking plant checks and fault finding to using design software and proposing plant improvement projects as well as gaining exposure to winders, pumps, crushing and materials handling systems, water and compressed air reticulation, dewatering systems and hoisting systems plus more.

The successful applicant will have:

  • A Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Have graduated from university within the last 2 years

Situated 150km from Mount Isa, and 38km from Cloncurry, you have the option of Residential Cloncurry, DIDO from Mount Isa, or FIFO within Qld, staying in camp accommodation whilst on roster. Cloncurry is one of north-west Queensland's agricultural and mining centres, with a population of just under 3000. As a social hub for the region, Cloncurry is host to events including rodeos, races, cultural festivals, community markets and much more. The Ernest Henry Mining Village offers a wet and dry mess, well-equipped gymnasium, a swimming pool and sporting fields. Residential and DIDO roles will also attract relocation assistance, three months' transit accommodation, housing assistance and additional allowances.
