8.5 rating for Culture, based on 55 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
Most people are very group orientated and support each other in projects to achieve a good outcome. Most are friendly in and out of the office

Great couldn't think of anything bad at all
Graduate, Wodonga - 04 Dec 2018
Office hours have a structured hierarchy. Outside office hours everyone is very chill and its easy to talk with higher management.
Midlevel, Sydney - 03 Dec 2018
In the office we sit as a team and work together on project work. We have started doing team lunches to talk about current projects or lessons learnt. After hours there have been many social activities which have been fantastic to get to know people in my team and within the company
Graduate, Melbourne - 03 Dec 2018
There are a lot of opportunities to socialise and networking with colleagues. Everyone is friendly and juniors generally feel comfortable approaching seniors. There are happy hours for the whole office, events for young professionals, sporting, volunteering and professional development opportunities.
Graduate, Melbourne - 30 Nov 2018
Could do with more socialising both during work and after hours.
Graduate, Melbourne - 29 Nov 2018
Hierarchy is very level. Even grads can work alongside senior team members. Senior staff are very open and welcoming
Graduate, Perth - 29 Nov 2018
Everyone in the office is friendly and is more than willing to help out a young graduate. Culture varies from team to team, but there are regular Friday lunches and after work drinks.
Graduate, Melbourne - 29 Nov 2018
Very flexible and accommodating. The culture is great and everyone looks after each other in my team. At times additional time is required, however as a team we look out for each other and ensure everyone is supported.
Graduate, Melbourne - 29 Nov 2018
The limited time that I am in the office the culture is great, the team is approachable and there are a lot of social activities organised. When out in the field it can be difficult and a little isolating.
Graduate, Sydney/ Brisbane - 29 Nov 2018
In the office - fairly flexible, but all time must be charged to a job code. (particularly a problem during quiet periods with low workload). Flat structure - senior engineers often have little time to train juniors, but typically are helpful if you can pin them down. I am well supported to pursue my own career goals. Socially - fairly good social culture amongst younger employees, mostly after hours.

Good social group of people
Midlevel, Regional - 29 Nov 2018
Since GHD is the only engineering company I have worked for I cannot compare it to other places, but the culture seems to be quite accepting of others. I also think that it's a motivating atmosphere because everyone shows genuine interest in the work they do, unlike other places I've worked.
Intern, Perth - 29 Nov 2018
In the office, the culture is great. The values of the company are expressed in all of our work, and the air is always positive and constructive. The social activities are better elsewhere, but good value considering most are free to attend.
Graduate, Melbourne - 29 Nov 2018
Everyone is very friendly. There are frequent social events, both inside and outside work hours.
Graduate, Sydney - 29 Nov 2018
The culture of GHD as a company is one of inclusion, employee support, flexible working including working from home and working 4 days per week even as a male, relatively junior employee with no children. Quality of deliverables is one of the most valued things at GHD with these deliverables reviewed multiple times after being mostly written by staff with less than 7 years industry experience. Senior team members are very knowledgeable and always offer guidance without judgement and do not belittle staff for making mistakes. My team works very well together. Most people communicate well to set up other team members for success. Some team members that are more senior and don't undertake fieldwork anymore sometimes ask for fieldwork to be organised at short notice and do not account for availability of equipment and other things that need to be organised for field work. This sometimes leads to unnecessary stress.
Graduate, Sydney - 29 Nov 2018
The people are very humble and love to share their ideas. We have a flat structure and graduates are encouraged to reach out to people in senior positions as part of networking and building connections.
Graduate - 29 Nov 2018
If you are an engineer or have studied engineering/project management/architecture then it seems like it would be quite welcoming and there are a variety of activities on each month outside of work hours. Cooperation seems high between the engineering groups, but cooperation from technical staff to business services staff is limited.
Graduate, Melbourne - 29 Nov 2018
Very civil, respectful and friendly culture. No excesses of drinking, partying etc. People with poor attitudes are rare.
