DO WORK THAT MATTERS

Software Engineering – Cyber Security – Quantum Computing – Analytics & Information – Data Science – Mobile Development – Cryptocurrencies – Pentesting – Emerging Technologies – Augmented/Virtual Realities – Automation & Robotics

Enterprise Services (ES) is responsible for the world-leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of CommBank; from innovative product platforms for our customers, to essential tools within our business.

We are one of the largest IT shops in Australia and believe in doing as much as we can in-house, with limited outsourcing. This delivers maximum opportunity to grow and develop transferable capability in Lean, Agile, Experimentation, Analytics and Design Thinking. You'll have options to work with our Engineering teams, Automation and Robotics, Software House, Mobile Development, Data Science, Cyber Security or Delivery and Business Improvement teams, so whether you're a high achieving Computer Scientist, Networking Engineer or a talented, creative thinker or problem solver from a non-technical discipline with a strong desire to work in agile project teams in an innovative environment, you'll have the opportunity to choose from several roles that might involve (but not limited to):

  • Designing, developing, deploying, enhancing or supporting technology systems
  • Conceiving and building engaging web applications and mobile apps
  • Enhancing our customers' digital futures through world-leading applications and 'contactless' technology
  • Applying state of the art statistical modelling, machine learning and data mining techniques
  • Python development related to malware detection – gain unique exposure to applied cybersecurity testing, response, forensics and protection
  • Helping translate business requirements into IT functionality and working with stakeholders to ensure all their needs are being met

Our innovative and market leading technology solutions provide invaluable support for our clients as we help them lead their businesses to tomorrow. Our team is energised about what we do, what we've achieved and the momentum behind where we're headed, and we want you to join us on our journey!

SEE YOURSELF IN OUR GRADUATE PROGRAM:

As part of our 18 month program, our tailored experience has two rotations between our Enterprise Services teams. Through these rotations, you'll gain an in-depth understanding of one of the largest and most forward thinking technology houses in Australia, have continued learning opportunities and be able to develop your technical knowledge and relationship building capabilities.

You'll also have the opportunity to work on a number of ES wide projects, which will give you the opportunity to make an impact in front of our senior leaders.

WE INVEST IN YOUR FUTURE

You'll gain access to important technical and development resources to help you expand your skills and knowledge. You will also have the opportunity to innovate and collaborate with other grads, customers, partners, start-ups and industry on exciting projects.

WE'RE INTERESTED IN HEARING FROM YOU IF:

  • You're an innovative and analytical thinker.
  • Adaptable and agile in nature – no one day is the same in our graduate program.
  • Digitally and technology savvy – we want you to leverage and champion our market leading technology platforms.

Pros and cons of working at Commonwealth Bank

Pros

  • Great work-life balance, surrounded by brilliant people

  • It is a very big organisation and there are many opportunities outside your business area. There are secondment roles opportunities which give you a chance to try a role outside your speciality. The Graduate Program has provided excellent conferences all throughout the year which are very valuable for our professional development.

  • Great workplace culture with lots of career development. People are friendly and willing to help.

  • Flexible working arrangements Ability to move around to different teams Different initiatives that run in the bank, that you're able to join The number of networks you're able to make

  • A great place to work - there is flexible work culture, we are strongly focused on helping our community, plus the pay is good too :)

Cons

    • Fairly strict graduate rotation policy, not full freedom of where we can rotate

    • Large company so at times it can be very difficult to get what you need quickly and hard to deliver projects unless you know the right people.

    • Red tape, things can sometimes move slowly Lots of meetings, some unnecessary

    • Remuneration compared to the market.

    • The legacy tech that slows down development can sometimes be frustrating/require workarounds.
