DO WORK THAT MATTERS
CommBank Institutional Banking & Markets (IB&M) division is competing directly with the largest investment banks in the world. We are CommBank's primary face to the market for all complex financing and advisory functions – for both corporate and major government clients. We advise on critical issues surrounding debt and equity capital markets, risk management and transactional banking. We service top tier corporate and government clients both here in Australia and overseas. Our purpose is to enhance our clients' success through market-leading capabilities and unique insights.
Our team is energised about what we do, what we've achieved and the momentum behind where we're headed, and we want you to join us on our journey!
SEE YOURSELF IN OUR SUMMER INTERN PROGRAM:
Our 10-week program starting on 26 November 2018, gives you a taste of what it's like to work with Australia's best bank. You'll have the opportunity to do real work that will allow you to put transferrable skills you've gained from your studies and passion into practice, whilst contributing to outcomes which positively impact our business and customers. During the program, you'll be given full support and training to help you decide if CommBank is the right fit for you.
Being part of Institutional Banking & Markets program could see you working across any of our business areas including Business Corporate Finance, Client Coverage Group, Global Markets and Strategy & Operations.
How this translates to what you do on a day to day basis is that you will be actively involved with financial analysis, financial modelling, preparation of pitch books, undertaking research projects, dealing directly with internal and external clients, and attending client and management meetings.

Great work-life balance, surrounded by brilliant people
It is a very big organisation and there are many opportunities outside your business area. There are secondment roles opportunities which give you a chance to try a role outside your speciality. The Graduate Program has provided excellent conferences all throughout the year which are very valuable for our professional development.
Great workplace culture with lots of career development. People are friendly and willing to help.
Flexible working arrangements Ability to move around to different teams Different initiatives that run in the bank, that you're able to join The number of networks you're able to make
A great place to work - there is flexible work culture, we are strongly focused on helping our community, plus the pay is good too :)
Fairly strict graduate rotation policy, not full freedom of where we can rotate
Large company so at times it can be very difficult to get what you need quickly and hard to deliver projects unless you know the right people.
Red tape, things can sometimes move slowly Lots of meetings, some unnecessary
Remuneration compared to the market.
The legacy tech that slows down development can sometimes be frustrating/require workarounds.
