At CommBank, our people are finding the answers to some of Australia's biggest customer challenges. With rich data at your fingertips, you'll be joining a team of expert problem solvers who are unafraid of the unfamiliar.

You will work with exceptionally talented people experienced in machine learning and statistical analysis and modelling methods (random forests, boosted models and regression models) in teams such as Customer Insights and Modelling, focused on analysing customer behavioural data and product usage in order to identify and deliver business relevant insights and value-enhancing opportunities to stakeholders across the Group. Or, you might assist Modelling and Optimisation, a function responsible for developing sophisticated price models that enable differentiated customer segment or geographic level pricing, as an example.
Our innovative and market leading technology solutions provide invaluable support for our clients as we help them lead their businesses to tomorrow. Our team is energised about what we do, what we've achieved and the momentum behind where we're headed, and we want you to join us on our journey!

Pros and cons of working at Commonwealth Bank

Pros

  • Great work-life balance, surrounded by brilliant people

  • It is a very big organisation and there are many opportunities outside your business area. There are secondment roles opportunities which give you a chance to try a role outside your speciality. The Graduate Program has provided excellent conferences all throughout the year which are very valuable for our professional development.

  • Great workplace culture with lots of career development. People are friendly and willing to help.

  • Flexible working arrangements Ability to move around to different teams Different initiatives that run in the bank, that you're able to join The number of networks you're able to make

  • A great place to work - there is flexible work culture, we are strongly focused on helping our community, plus the pay is good too :)

Cons

    • Fairly strict graduate rotation policy, not full freedom of where we can rotate

    • Large company so at times it can be very difficult to get what you need quickly and hard to deliver projects unless you know the right people.

    • Red tape, things can sometimes move slowly Lots of meetings, some unnecessary

    • Remuneration compared to the market.

    • The legacy tech that slows down development can sometimes be frustrating/require workarounds.
