Your role

You're playing the part of an 'enemy threat' on a major multi-national exercise in the Pacific. Absolute silence is maintained as you manoeuvre into position and prepare a simulated torpedo launch. The equipment and systems your team maintains are critical to the success of the mission.

This is no ordinary engineering challenge, and submarines are no ordinary workplaces.

As an Electronics Engineer Submariner, you’ll take responsibility for the repair and maintenance of high-tech onboard combat systems, which include:

  • radar
  • sonar
  • navigation
  • communications
  • electronic warfare
  • combat management system networks, and
  • weapons fire control.

At sea, you will be the engineering authority responsible for the submarine’s combat and self-defence capabilities. On land your position will include duties such as combat system trials as well as the training and management of sailors.

Another major aspect of your role will be to stay abreast of combat system upgrades and developments. The Navy introduces new vessels and electronic systems on a regular basis so your job will be constantly challenging and changing.

During times of updates and developments, you will be involved in:

  • monitoring system performance
  • developing modifications
  • evaluating repair schemes, and
  • supervising equipment trials.

So are you ready for new engineering and career challenges complete with a unique lifestyle? Then apply now (below).

Salary

  • Fully-paid officer training
  • Once trained, earn over $116,488 p.a. plus superannuation (salaries as of 01 August 2019)
  • Numerous other benefits
