Your role
You're playing the part of an 'enemy threat' on a major multi-national exercise in the Pacific. Absolute silence is maintained as you manoeuvre into position and prepare a simulated torpedo launch. The equipment and systems your team maintains are critical to the success of the mission.
This is no ordinary engineering challenge, and submarines are no ordinary workplaces.
As an Electronics Engineer Submariner, you'll take responsibility for the repair and maintenance of high-tech onboard combat systems, which include:
At sea you will be the engineering authority responsible for the submarine's combat and self-defence capabilities. On land your position will include duties such as combat system trials as well as the training and management of sailors.
Another major aspect of your role will be to stay abreast of combat system upgrades and developments. The Navy introduces new vessels and electronic systems on a regular basis so your job will be constantly challenging and changing.
