Broaden your horizons

The New Colombo Plan (NCP) is a signature initiative of the Australian Government supporting Australian undergraduate students to study and undertake internships in the Asia Pacific region. At ANZ, we believe in the Asia Pacific as the world's trading hub and in support of the NCP, ANZ is pleased to be able to provide internship opportunities to students who have been awarded NCP scholarships in one of the most dynamic and diverse areas – Institutional Division.

What kind of work will you be doing?

ANZ NCP interns are provided with an experience that includes challenging work with exposure across the business in which you are placed. During your internship you will be assigned specific projects & deliverables, have the opportunity to network to enable exposure to other business areas and be assigned a buddy who will support you as you navigate your way around ANZ. Our paid Intern Program is a great way for NCP students to explore a career within the banking and finance industry in the Asia Pacific region while gaining invaluable corporate and cultural experience.

What makes a great intern?

We're looking for people who can make a difference, are independently-minded, yet collaborate with others for better outcomes. You will be hard-working, digitally savvy and keen to experience the challenges and rewards of our global business. People who are interested in what's happening around the world and want to be part of building a business that gives back to its customers, employees, shareholders and communities alike.

While achieving high marks in a degree is a bonus, we're looking for what you can bring to the table; what makes you, you. Community work, travel, passion and make for a well-rounded person – and a competitive applicant.

Pros and cons of working at ANZ AU

Pros

  • It's flexible, people are nice and helpful and plenty of growth opportunities.

  • Great support network and development.

  • Company culture - most people are friendly, willing to help, easy to chat to. Career progression - large international organization with lots of departments, opportunity for career progression and even career diversification within the company Perks - depending on the team you're in, you can work from home when needed and again depending on the role, you may not need to dress strictly corporate (i.e. suit and tie or high heels)

  • Easy going, interesting work, ability to do multiple rotations and see lots of different teams, flexible working

  • The people and the culture

Cons

    • Clarity regarding graduate program structure.

    • Being a large enterprise organization, there are constant restructures every 1-2 years and the risk of redundancy is quite high. Being a large company also means several cumbersome processes and systems and old, inefficient, ineffective ways of performing certain tasks.

    • Could be more training as a graduate before starting in your team- broad training such as credit writing
